The Warden Uniform:

Uniforms need to be distinct from those of the police and other workers.

Wardens should be readily identifiable with uniform that conforms with Association of Chief Police Officer (ACPO) guidelines (and display identification, if accredited by a local police force).

As well as thinking about colours, you will need to ensure that there are options for a range of weather conditions and that they are suitable for the functions that wardens are going to undertake.

When choosing uniforms, remember that the uniform should:

 Make the wearer instantly recognisable as a warden, not as a police officer or security guard - remember the wardens' key role as a community linker and networker;Be highly visible, with reflective strips;Display your corporate image;Incorporate all-weather clothing - go for a layered approach, including waterproof coats, trousers, hats and gloves;Include safe, comfortable, appropriate footwear;Include sufficient issue for wardens to be clean and presentable;Be ready for wardens to go operational - there are long lead times for some items of clothing, especially embroidered or heat-sealed items.
