Working with the Youth Inclusion Support Panel (YISP) and local middle school, this 5 week pilot scheme for tag rugby (no physical contact, just take the opponents 'tag-rag') was set up with one warden and assistance from the school’s PE teacher

The pilot sessions were originally launched to engage with young people in middle schools, who were on the edge of anti-social behaviour, to channel their energies in a more positive direction. When advertised in the school others wanted to join in. 9 young people were involved in the pilot.

We wanted to show young people that there are other ways of using their energies to better themselves, rather than cause problems in the community where they live. Support came through Norwich City Council's Community Safety Manager, with funding for training and equipment.

Success has seen the scheme launched into other schools including a school with young people with behavioural problems. Access to deliver the activity was by invitation from the schools who had heard of the success of the pilot.
