We invite different bloggers to share their opinions on their work. We also invite everyone who reads the blogs to let us know what they think about them and to comment back to the blogger.

Snow Days
Happy New Year.
Many people have been stuck indoors for several days because they have been unable to go out in the recent bad weather and it has been particularly difficult for those who live alone. Even for those of us who go to work, many of our activities that we normally enjoy have been cancelled.
Lots of us have experienced great difficulty in travelling to work and for LT&RC trainers it has not been any different. On top of their own travel problems they have had to adapt training courses to allow for late comers and non arrivals.
Certainly 2010 has not started how we wished, with back-to-back training. Instead of attending courses we may have been thinking about how we were going to get to work and how we were going to prevent a fall and break our bones in the icy weather. Also, how many of us have had the opportunity to help someone else, even if it has only been by keeping in touch by telephone? We hope that LT&RC has assisted you by giving you the skills to help provide that all important community spirit in the frontline.
Today, at LT&RC, all of us were in the office. We battled the snow and slush to get in and some left home extra early this morning to be here. How great it was for us all to be in the office at the same time as this does not happen often. We chatted and discussed together the possibility of running different types of courses, and ways of how we can meet what you, our customers, want in relation to cost and content. Did we mention the weather? Of course we did.
We know every event, even just getting together, can be a lesson and we accept that we can learn from each other. How much more can we gain by listening and sharing ideas. It is so much more gratifying and rewarding to work as a team rather than complaining about what is missing. We work well together to provide you with the service you need.
Ask yourself what you have learned in the past few days, as it may provide you with a new way of looking at life in the future. Remember, learning can take place in many different ways. Ask yourself:
What am I going to do this year? How do I achieve this?Do I need to develop further to achieve this? What support will I need to do this? What can I change in my life to make this all possible? What did I want to do last year and didn’t?Whilst you are thinking about this, ask yourself, can you be more helpful to others?
