Meet the TeamEach member of LT&RC staff brings to the team a wealth of experience from a variety of industries and organisations, each with unique backgrounds, and all contributing to a dynamic, high-calibre team of specialists. The London Training & Resource Centre can boast a dedicated training team of four who collectively have over 60 years of proven experience in training.Caroline Thwaites: Regional Centre Manager Watch the video: Caroline Thwaites on LT&RC and the work of the centre...meet Caroline Thwaites As the Regional Manager of the LT&RC, Caroline provides strategic and day-to-day leadership, ensuring the development and delivery of high quality products and services within community renewal. Caroline also leads on the development and sustainability of the London Training & Resource Centre, working with a range of strategic stakeholders and plays a leading strategic role working with the other six regional Resource Centres. Since the late 1990s Caroline has worked within a public sector environment in different roles spanning policy development, programme management and partnership development within community safety and social regeneration. Caroline holds a BSc (Hons) in Sociology and an MSc in Criminal Justice Studies and has a keen interest in the broader community safety arena. Last year she embarked on a Professional Doctorate in Criminal Justice Studies, and her research interest is currently focused on auxiliary policing. Stephanie Hamilton: Business Development Manager Watch the video: Stephanie Hamilton on herself, the work she does, and why she does it...meet Stephanie Hamilton Stephanie's background is in marketing and communications across a range of industries including professional and financial services, government, legal and in the building industry. As the Business Development Manager at the LT&RC, Stephanie led on the implementation of both a national and regional communication strategy for existing clients and new markets. She was responsible for the development of the LT&RC branding end-to-end, regionally manages all promotion and publicity and is part of the national marketing group for Resource Centres. With seven years experience in marketing, her skills are in design and development of promotional materials and online communication systems and, with a BA in Political Science and Cultural Studies, Stephanie is an articulate communicator with good writing, research and project management skills. Fiona Jamieson: Training & Development Manager Watch the video: Fiona Jamieson on her input into LT&RC's training, her priorities, and her focus on value and quality...meet Fiona Jamieson Fiona is a versatile trainer, project manager, writer, facilitator and coach with a strong background in community regeneration. Since August 2005 Fiona has been the Training and Development Manager for the LT&RC where she strategically develops and ensures the delivery of the training services for London. This includes the appointment and support of trainers, developing specialist training courses and quality assurance systems. It also requires working closely with customer organisations in order to keep abreast of their current and future training needs. Fiona holds an MSc in Change Agent Skills & Strategies, and a BA in Social Work.Sue Madden: Internal Verifier-Qualifications Watch the video: Sue Madden on NVQs, their value, and her background...meet Sue Madden Sue Madden is a qualified OCR and City & Guilds internal verifier and assessor, and has worked in the field of National Vocation Qualification (NVQ) for more than 17 years. She is an experienced training and development consultant and has worked in a variety of local government departments. Sue has managed a number of NVQ centres and currently oversees the Community Warden NVQ for the LT&RC. In her role as internal verifier she has used her experience to ensure the highest quality service is provided to in-house and external clients and ensures procedures and actions meet the requirements of City & Guilds. Sue trains, assesses and verifies the work of assessors. Her range of different NVQ’s reflects the variety of specialist areas she has worked in. Sue has overseen Waste Management Operations, Parking Control, Customer Care, Business Administration, Care Standards, Technical Services, A1 Assessor and the Community Warden NVQ. A member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and development, Sue is committed to the developing individuals in the workplace and the NVQ process enables her to do this.Terry Bowen: Training Development Officer Watch the video: Terry Bowen on his move to LT&RC, his specialities, and experience...meet Terry Bowen Terry has 12 years experience as a qualified trainer. He started training in the IT sector, but soon moved across to soft skills Training. Terry started training Wardens in April 2002 at London Borough of Merton. With the merger of the three London Centres in September, Terry joined the team at Southwark concentrating on delivery of the NCFE Core Warden Training. He also trains on other courses including FPN, Domestic Violence and Diversity. He is currently training to attain his qualification in NVQ Assessing. Watch the video: Denise Fermor on her background, skills, and what she gets out of training...meet Denise Fermor A natural communicator with an excellent sense of fun, Denise is capable, adaptable and practical with a common sense approach to all aspects of work, life and play which provides effective solutions to a wide range of issues. Denise has a wealth of knowledge in a variety of specialist fields, such as conflict management and personal safety. This can be linked to her experience as a Detective Constable in the Police Force. Denise has also developed and provided input to service policies such as standard operating procedures, service manuals, health and safety and risk assessments. Patricia Lyon: Office Manager Watch the video: Patricia Lyon on her specialities, skills, and what she gets out of her work...meet Patricia Lyon Patricia oversees LT&RC's day-to-day operational management. Her career has previously been within the travel Industry for Thomson Tour Operations and Thomas Cook and her roles have centred on customer service (something which she is very passionate about). In May 2004 Patricia joined Southwark to set up the Administration department for the Community Warden service (one of the largest programmes in the UK) and has supported the recruitment and the premise/accommodation strategy. Asia Bhatti: Project & Programmes Manager Asia is the Regional Centre Co-ordinator with extensive experience in project management, delivering training and carrying out assessments. Asia’s proven leadership skills involve managing, developing and motivating teams to achieve their objectives. Asia’s collective experience goes hand in hand with her achievements through education, including A1 Assessors Qualification (Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Candidates using a Range of Methods); BA (Hons) in Psychology with Criminology and an MSc in Forensic Psychology. Asia is currently working towards achieving the City & Guilds 7302 Certificate in Delivery Learning. Asia’s expertise also comes from her direct involvement as a Southwark Crime Warden until 2004. In 2004 she took the opportunity to become a Research & Project Officer before successfully helping with the initial development of the Resource Centre. First-class interpersonal and communication skills allow her to build good relationships with colleagues and clients alike – liaising with partner agencies, government and organisations. Dedicated to maintaining high quality standards, Asia has been directly involved in making an impact on the community through her relentless support of warden schemes. |
