Conflict/Risk Management For all those potentially in the 'firing line'. The training focuses on controlling personal risks and defusing anger before it escalates into aggression. This course is highly practical, and participants learn through a range of training methods including short demonstration, skills practice, reflection and discussion. Applied Personal Safety More than ever front line staff are coming under attack, whether on street patrol, responding to calls for assistance, saving lives, paying home visits or teaching. Police, PCSO's and many Security Sector Staff and Community Wardens are trained in these techniques. A&E departments, medical professionals, care sector workers and teaching establishments are now being directed by the government to ensure that their staff are trained to protect themselves and reduce injury to others. This training is extensive and provides you with a valuable understanding of the extent to which you can defend yourself and the legalities and grounds for using physical force. It provides an insight into the extent of the dangers you may face on a daily basis with practical skills and techniques to evade potentially violent situations and improve your chances of surviving an attack. Fixed Penalty Notice Training, FPN Refresher & Enforcement Training These courses are individually customised to suit your local needs and requirements. If you are issuing FPN's, entering into enforcement for the first time or require your team to be updated and skilled in new areas of enforcement these courses can be adapted to suit your needs. Core content covers the relevant legislation Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act and the Anti-Social Behaviour Act and provides an understanding of the impact of environmental issues and anti-social behaviour and fixed penalty notices, the necessary approaches to ensure the delivery of expected outcomes and the required safeguards to protect the authority and officers. Learning objectives: - Understand the purpose of a Fixed Penalty Notice, how and when they can be used, and their legal status;

Community Participation Toolkit An excellent toolkit which equips anyone with the practical skills and knowledge needed to carry out their own community evaluation. As well as step-by-step instructions for a wide range of participatory exercises for community members to undertake, the toolkit also includes information about designing an evaluation, setting-up an evaluation group, guidance on analysing group findings, and examples of survey forms and worksheets. A national Evaluation of Neighbourhood Warden Schemes commissioned by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister in 2000 used specially developed 'participatory' methods to engage the community, alongside the traditional survey techniques. This approach was effective in providing rich qualitative data on the performance of warden schemes from the customer viewpoint and has several advantages. Social Development Direct, which carried out the national evaluation, developed this toolkit. Learning objectives: - Identify the community’s priorities for service provision;

A1 Assessor Training A two-day introduction event with follow-up support, guidance and assessments for warden supervisors and managers wishing to achieve the A1 Assessor Award. For managers and supervisors who wish to assess their staff against the national Community Warden standards of competence. Eligible applicants must have at least two candidates to start the award. The programme shows how to plan and carry out assessments, discuss evidence requirements, and outline the assessor’s role in the quality assurance process. Advanced Health & Safety Training This Health & Safety workshop is suitable for managers and supervisors and key workers. Child Protection Every Child Matters stipulates that it is essential that anyone who is in a role of responsibility and/or coming into contact with young and vulnerable persons should know how to best protect them and themselves. The training addresses key issues such as what to do if you suspect someone is at risk of harm, how harm manifests itself, how to protect yourself, an awareness of the policies and procedures and your responsibilities. Domestic Violence Awareness One in four women and one in seven men are likely to experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
