New Collaborate & help members are now coming on at a rate of two a week. Most recently Peterborough City Council, KingstonFirst and Neighbourhood Solutions have joined Help the Aged and Age Concern, LB Southwark Community Wardens and LB Merton Wardens in using the new service.

Collaborate & help offers local practitioners the opportunity to share best practice and local project information, and helps different schemes to work collaboratively together and is a simple to use information, contact and messaging website that links service providers and residents using simple to use websites...more

Body scanners are now in use at Heathrow and Manchester airports and are expected to be introduced at Birmingham Airport in the near future. This will be followed by a national roll out. Read on for further details of how the new machines will operate at UK airports.

Body scanners will give airport security staff an increased ability to detect explosives or other potentially harmful items hidden on a passenger’s body.

For the present time only a proportion of airline passengers will be selected for screening. Passengers will not be selected for screening based on their race, ethnic origin, gender or age.

Regional Language Network London (RLN London) has developed the Welcoming the World training programme with funding from the London Development Agency to drive-up standards for our international welcome before, during and after the 2012 Olympic Games.

The programme is an nteractive and practical one-day course that includes intercultural Skills (the skills needed to serve and communicate with people from other cultures effectively and sensitively), customer service advice for visitors from two of the following: China, the Middle East, India, France and Poland, taster sessions in ‘meet and greet’ phrases for two of the languages spoken in the countries and territories above.
